Chapter 57: Xiao Zhou Coldly Rejects the Dream Guy

After returning home, Zhou Mingchen took a shower. His hair, which had been styled, became soft again, covering half of his ears, which had become red from the hot water.

Shen Wanchao was sitting on the sofa looking at his phone. He turned around and waved to Zhou Mingchen.

Zhou Mingchen never liked to use a hairdryer. He dried his hair with a towel as he moved over to Shen Wanchao.

“What?” Zhou Mingchen asked.

Shen Wanchao put down his phone and patted the spot next to him: “I have something to ask you.” Zhou Mingchen sat down beside him, then suddenly stiffened.

Shen Wanchao had naturally leaned closer, and linked his uninjured left arm with Zhou Mingchen’s right arm.

A pleasant minty scent emanated from Shen Wanchao; Zhou Mingchen knew it was his pheromones. For Alphas and Omegas, the pheromones of their birth Omega naturally possess a significant calming effect.

Perhaps because they were enveloped by this scent from before birth, so every cell in their bodies knew that this scent signified safety.

No wonder he had always felt close to Shen Wanchao… Zhou Mingchen [stolen content]couldn’t help but think this as his body gradually relaxed.

Shen Wanchao, unaware of Zhou Mingchen’s thoughts, said, “Now that you know my identity, don’t you think it’s strange for me to go to school with you? If you don’t want me to go, I won’t go. What do you think?”

Zhou Mingchen paused for a moment before realizing that Shen Wanchao didn’t need to go to school like him.

He felt a little listless; he had gotten used to being Shen Xiao Chao’s deskmate.

The thought of possibly having to occupy an entire row of seats alone in the future… was indeed a bit lonely.

Perhaps others couldn’t accept going to school with their fathers, and even a few days ago, if someone had told Zhou Mingchen that he would happily go to school with his dad, he would have suggested they see a psychiatrist.

But he hadn’t felt any pressure during the time Shen Wanchao had been going to school with him; in fact, he was happier than before.

And his dad was completely different at school than at home, how to describe it… younger, more energetic, and more like an ordinary person?

Being deskmates with his dad, there was probably no one else in the world who could have a similar experience, right?

It was pretty cool.

“I’m fine,” Zhou Mingchen said coolly. “It’s up to you.”

Shen Wanchao sensed something from his feigned nonchalance and deliberately said, “Oh, in that case, I’ll just drop out.”

Zhou Mingchen: “!?”

“There’s no need to waste educational resources,” Shen Wanchao said. “I’ll focus on taking care of you and Xiao Yi at home during this time.”

As he spoke, Shen Wanchao stretched with one hand: “Besides, school is tiring; it’s more comfortable to sleep in at home.”

Zhou Mingchen: “!!”

He grabbed Shen Wanchao’s left wrist, brooking no refusal: “No way, you have to go to school with me!”

He absolutely refused to allow himself to be at school while Shen Wanchao could sleep in!

And so, the next morning at 6:30, Shen Wanchao still got up on time, got ready, and went to school with Zhou Mingchen and Lin Anyi.

After revealing his identity, things were still a little different than usual. After getting out of the car, Zhou Mingchen didn’t just walk away; instead, he turned around and extended a hand to Shen Wanchao.

Shen Wanchao was startled at first, then he reached out and took the hand, and got out of the car.

“Did the sun rise in the west?” Shen Wanchao gazed at the horizon.

Zhou Mingchen pulled out two pairs of sunglasses from somewhere. He kept one for himself and handing one to Lin Anyi. The two put them on simultaneously with perfect coordination.

Zhou Mingchen’s sunglasses reflected the morning light: “The sun rises as usual. Today, we are your bodyguards.”

Lin Anyi echoed his lines: “We will protect you, Esteemed, uh, Dad.”

Shen Wanchao: “?”

Lin Anyi’s ears turned slightly red, and he whispered, “I’m being forced into this.”

“Zero Two, don’t let your guard down,” Zhou Mingchen said coldly.

Lin Anyi sighed softly and cooperated again: “Understood, Zero One.”

Shen Wanchao: “…”

Next, under the dutiful protection of Zero One and Zero Two, Shen Wanchao headed towards the second-year high school building.

On the way, he overheard his two bodyguards whispering among themselves.

Lin Anyi: “Brother, to be honest, we’re being a bit stupid.”

Zhou Mingchen: ” Don’t worry about what others think, Ling’er. Our top priority is to please Dad and get our allowance back as soon as possible.”

Lin Anyi: “But I don’t lack allowance.”

Zhou Mingchen: “Nonsense! Who would complain about having too much money? I’ll give you 30% later.”

Shen Wanchao: “…”

Fortunately, Zhou Mingchen only acted out of a momentary whim. Apart from wearing sunglasses and walking beside Shen Wanchao, he didn’t do anything else strange.

The morning passed peacefully until lunch break, when Huo Tingsong called Zhou Mingchen out.

Huo Tingsong sounded worried and immediately asked, “Is Shen Chao’s injury alright?”

While asking, he kept glancing into the classroom.

Since the camping trip, Huo Tingsong had been worried about Shen Wanchao’s injury; he sent messages to Zhou Mingchen several times, but the kid seemed to have disappeared and didn’t reply. He couldn’t hold back any longer, and finally, when school started, he came over to inquire in person.

“It’s not a big problem, the doctor said to come back for a check-up in a week,” Zhou Mingchen replied.

“That’s good.” Huo Tingsong breathed a sigh of relief. “It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have suggested going to a dangerous place.”

Zhou Mingchen snorted coldly: “It’s good that you know it’s your fault.”

Huo Tingsong looked up: “?”

Zhou Mingchen took out sunglasses and put them on, then held up his right index finger and said, “You’re not allowed to chase after Shen Chao anymore.”

Huo Tingsong was bewildered: “Why?”

“There’s no why.” Zhou Mingchen said mysteriously, “If I had to say… it’s because you’re still too young.”

Huo Tingsong: “???”

Seeing Zhou Mingchen about to return to the classroom after saying those incomprehensible sentences, Huo Tingsong quickly grabbed him to prevent him from slipping away.

“No, you have to give me a reasonable explanation,” Huo Tingsong pressed. “What’s wrong with me? Why are you suddenly not supporting my pursuit of Shen Chao? Did he say something to you?”

Zhou Mingchen’s deep, black eyes were revealed as he slightly adjusted his sunglasses. He patted Huo Tingsong’s shoulder, and said, “Nothing’s wrong with you, but you and Shen Chao aren’t a good match. Find someone else to pursue.”

After saying that, Zhou Mingchen turned and left Huo Tingsong confused in the wind of the corridor.

Back in the classroom, break was almost over, and many students were already reading or doing homework.

Zhou Mingchen saw Fang Chi occupying his seat, asking Shen Wanchao for help with a problem.

He noticed Lu Niannian wasn’t there; no wonder he was bothering Shen Wanchao.

As he got closer, Zhou Mingchen heard Fang Chi’s voice:

“Shen Xiao Chao, can you explain this problem to me again? Why is K equal to this and not 2?”

Shen Wanchao glanced at the problem Fang Chi had pointed out, picked up a piece of scratch paper, and was about to start drawing when he suddenly heard Fang Chi let out a loud “Oww!”

Zhou Mingchen rolled up his book and tapped Fang Chi on the head: “You’re not allowed to call him Shen Xiao Chao anymore. Show some respect, call him Classmate Shen. Besides, his hand is injured, and you still expect him to explain problems to you? Where’s your humanity?”

Shen Wanchao’s pen froze in mid-air: “…”

Fang Chi protested as he covered his head: “Zhou Mingchen, are you sick? Didn’t you call him that first?”

Zhou Mingchen offered no explanation and coldly sent Fang Chi back to his seat.

After the last class in the afternoon, the homeroom teacher, Yang Liu, went overtime for a while. She emphasized the issue of adjusting one’s mindset after the holiday and the final exams next month.

Shen Wanchao listened to Yang Liu, but his eyes were fixed on the homework he had done that night.

Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of Lin Xiao Yi peeking out from behind the door.

Upon noticing him looking over, Lin Xiao Yi immediately jumped like a startled rabbit.

Shen Wanchao was completely charmed and couldn’t help but cover his upturned lips with his left hand.

Finally, class ended, and Shen Wanchao and Zhou Mingchen slung their bags over their shoulders and went out to meet Lin Anyi.

Zhou Mingchen had also seen Lin Anyi peeking out the back door and Shen Wanchao smiling at him. Now, he said to Lin Anyi in a sarcastic tone, “Why haven’t I seen you come to our class to leave school together before? You couldn’t even wait a few minutes today?”

Lin Anyi hugged Shen Wanchao’s left arm and snuggled against him. He seemed to not hear what Zhou Mingchen was saying.

Shen Wanchao hadn’t seen Lin Anyi so clingy in a long time. He remembered that during filming, Lin Anyi was like that too, seemingly aloof, but secretly clingy. No matter where Shen Wanchao was filming, if he turned around, he would see a little tail following behind him.

Shen Wanchao’s heart melted. He said to Zhou Mingchen, “Why are you saying such hurtful things? It’s a good thing that Xiao Yi is willing to be close to me. Don’t be jealous, okay?”

Then, Shen Wanchao turned to Lin Anyi and asked him, “What do you want to eat tonight?”

Lin Anyi obediently replied, “Anything is fine.”

Shen Wanchao smiled, “You’re such an easy child to please.”

Zhou Mingchen: “…!”

This person is truly cunning, he has completely bewitched my dad!

Zhou Mingchen also wanted to hug his dad’s arm like Lin Anyi, but aside from the fact that his dad’s right hand was still hanging, as an Alpha, if he dared to hug another Omega’s hand at school, the director of the grade would arrive in less than ten minutes, make him let go, and then take him to the academic affairs office to write a self-criticism.

This is unfair! Why did I have to be born an Alpha!

The three of them returned home together.

Zhou Hui just came out of the study and came over to help Shen Wanchao put down his schoolbag. He whispered in his ear, “Mom’s here.”

Shen Wanchao immediately frowned.

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Yin came out of the kitchen wearing an apron. When he saw Shen Wanchao and the others return home, she smiled brightly: “You’re back just in time! Dinner’s ready, we can eat right away.”

Zhou Mingchen exclaimed as he walked over: “Great! I’ve been starving! Grandma, what delicious food did you make?”

Lin Anyi also nervously followed to help serve the dishes and rice. Soon, the family was sitting around the table.

Jiang Yin’s cooking skills weren’t particularly outstanding, but she could easily prepare a table full of home-style dishes.

Zhou Mingchen, a big boy his age, was no different from a glutton; he finished a bowl in a few minutes and went for more.

Diners enjoying their meal was the best compliment to the cook, and Jiang Yin was overjoyed. She put a piece of spare rib on Zhou Mingchen’s plate.

After giving Zhou Mingchen the rib, Jiang Yin felt she shouldn’t show favoritism, so she also selected a perfectly shaped piece of spare rib for Lin Anyi.

Lin Anyi was somewhat flattered: “Thank you, Grandma.”

Shen Wanchao, with the spook in his left hand, appeared to be focusing on his meal, when suddenly a piece of pork rib appeared in his bowl as well.

He looked up and met Jiang Yin’s gaze. She said, “Eat more.”

Shen Wanchao felt awkward, but since everyone was eating, he ultimately said nothing. It wasn’t until after dinner, when Zhou Mingchen and Lin Anyi went to the study to do their homework, that Shen Wanchao finally found a chance to ask Jiang Yin, “Mom, why did you suddenly come over today?”

Jiang Yin smiled and said, “I was worried because your hand is injured and it’s inconvenient for you to do anything, so I came to take care of you for a few days.”

Shen Wanchao had one arm across his chest and the other hanging on his side, his expression inscrutable. He said, “You’re worrying too much. Aunt Liu is here to help, there’s nothing to do. Besides, the children are all grown up, why do they need special care? You should stay at home and enjoy your retirement with Dad.”

“I just wanted to spend more time with my grandchildren,”

Jiang Yin’s lips trembled slightly as she sensed the underlying reluctance in Shen Wanchao’s words.

Since she had said that, Shen Wanchao couldn’t insist that she leave, so he didn’t say anything more and got up to go to the study.
