“If you like to bite and I like to be bitten, what should we do?”

He slowly lowered his gaze to my lips. Soon after, he raised his hand and carefully cupped my chin. His thumb slipped between my parted lips.

“Will you bite me?”

He asked while gently rubbing his thumb against the tips of my teeth. I remained frozen like a stone for a while, then I forced my eyes away from his even though it felt like something held them there.

I was trapped in a cell, so the only time I could meet Iser was during medicine hours like this. That meant the actual time limit for the quest was only six hours, adding today’s three hours and tomorrow’s three hours together.

I don’t have time to relax.

Whatever Iser wanted from me, I had to give it to him.

Iser’s thumb was now circling the tip of my canine tooth. I pulled his hand down and gently rubbed the thumb that touched my teeth.

“Where do you want to be bitten?”

Iser stared at me without a word, then he grabbed my wrist with the hand I held and pulled my hand toward him.

“Here.”

My hand landed near his collarbone. I felt the hard bone’s outline through his clothes.

“Will you do it for me?”

“…”

“If you will, take these off.”

I took a breath and approached Iser. I unbuttoned his guard uniform, which he wore buttoned up to his neck. Once I unbuttoned the shirt inside too, his smooth collarbone appeared.

I turned my head away, but I immediately checked his expression. Iser leaned his head against the wall with a blank face, but he smiled when our eyes met.

His touch felt soft as he tucked my hair behind my ear. I bit the inside of my cheek and lowered my head. I smelled a scent like herbs.

I only had to lean in a little more to reach him. Right then, I felt his body stiffen under my palm on his shoulder. I exhaled a long breath and lifted my head.

“I’m sorry. I can’t do it. I don’t want to leave a wound on your body.”

Iser already endured terrible experiments by Duke Hayut. He must have suffered through countless wounds during that process. I didn’t want to add to that, even if it was for a quest.

Iser briefly laughed.

“You bite your own body just fine, but it’s hard to do it to mine?”

“…”

“Even though I heal quickly, unlike you?”

He spoke as if his body was an object whose main strength was durability. It made me sad, so my hand moved on its own. I stroked his cheek.

“You heal quickly, but that doesn’t mean you don’t feel pain.”

“…”

“Ask for something else. I’ll do that for you.”

I couldn’t hear Iser’s breath. He exhaled a moment later and leaned his face into my palm.

“Then, within a range where I don’t feel pain… how far can we go?”

He asked quietly with his gaze lowered. I immediately answered

“Everything, except asking me to die.”

I really intended to do everything else.

“Then you’ll do everything, since I don’t want you to die.”

Iser smiled and kissed my palm. He looked up at me with eyes that resembled the sky at its most beautiful hour, and I felt dizzy. Maybe it was because Iser acted too well.

I tried to act calm.

“I said I’d do everything, but as you know, my status as a prisoner limits what I can do.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll only ask for things you can handle.”

Iser rubbed his cheek against my palm and smiled. He then wrapped his hand around mine and pulled it down to his collarbone. He rubbed his collarbone with my fingertips and asked.

“If using your teeth is hard, can you do it with your lips?”

At that moment, something snapped in my head.

I lowered my head without a word and kissed his collarbone. I parted my lips and sucked. I felt his grip on my wrist tighten. I reflexively lifted my head.

“Did it hurt?”

But before I could even check Iser’s expression, a hand cupped the back of my head and pulled me in.

“It doesn’t hurt, so don’t stop.”

Since we were already close, our lips instantly met. I closed my eyes and relaxed.

I don’t know how long we stayed focused on the kiss. I heard the sound of clicking shoes from the hallway outside the cell. I finally came back to my senses, pulled Iser’s hand from the back of my head, and looked up. A string of saliva connected our lips.

I quickly wiped my mouth and started fixing Iser’s messy clothes. Just as I began fastening the buttons of his guard jacket, a guard passed by Cell 1004.

“Phew…”

I slumped onto the floor with a sigh of relief, but Iser hugged my waist. He leaned his head against my chest and laughed softly.

“Your heartbeat is so loud.”

…You’re laughing right now?

I thought about pushing him away, but I just chuckled.

“At least you had fun.”

I patted Iser’s back, and then I finally remembered the status window.

Praise ‘XXX Hayut’!

Success!

———–—————–—————–—

Right, I think I heard an electronic beep the moment our lips met.

The withdrawal symptoms got worse as time passed. About a day after I quit smoking, I couldn’t keep my body still. I felt like I was going crazy whether I sat, stood, or lay down.

The anxiety faded slightly when I stood under ice-cold water, but that only lasted a moment. Once I finished the cold shower and returned to the room, my hands and feet started shaking again. Then I headed straight back to the bathroom.

After finishing my countless shower, I didn’t even feel like wiping the water off my body anymore.

I’ll just get wet again anyway.

I didn’t feel like putting on my prisoner uniform top, either. I just threw on some pants while my body was still wet. At least my legs didn’t have restraints, so it was easier to dress.

I leaned against the wall. Some time passed, and my body started shaking again.

Damn it. Maybe I shouldn’t leave the bathroom at all.

Just then.

Ding!

In a moment,

Vaccine Generation Rate ?%

will be given as a reward.

(0 ≤ ? ≤ 10)

———–—————–—————–——

“Is the maximum 10 this time too?”

I don’t know how I’m supposed to generate a vaccine by collecting it in such tiny amounts.

At least I got 10 last time.

It’ll be hard to get that lucky again. I just hope I don’t get 0.

The question mark in the status window started blinking.

I turned my head and ignored it. Actually, I hadn’t looked at the status window once since I confirmed the praise quest for Iser was cleared. I couldn’t bring myself to look at it.

Guilt always followed me whenever I finished a praise quest. I felt like I used the targets for my own goals. But.

Why do I feel so much guilt specifically toward Iser?

I couldn’t even look at the status window.

I closed my eyes and thudded the back of my head against the wall. After hitting it several times, I checked the window much later.

———–【 System Notice 】———–—

The treatment process activates automatically after vaccine generation.

Vaccine Generation Rate: 20% (20/100)

———–—————–—————–——

The rate increased from 10% to 20%, so I must have received the maximum of 10.

I didn’t even expect it.

I prepared for the worst case of 0, so I had plenty of reason to be happy with the best result of 10. For some reason, I didn’t feel happy.

“Haa…”

I gritted my teeth and buried my face in my palms.

I really hope the next praise target isn’t Iser.
