Evil God 34
Shibaliwu Gorge 10
Small pebbles rained down from above. The rocks beneath their feet churned like waves, and the entire cave began to shake.
The mountain formations, solidified from imagination, began to lose their outlines under the erosion of darkness; the rules of space seemed to be falling apart.
“The cave is about to collapse!” Cheng Mo shielded Wen Li, he planted his feet on the shaking rock face, like a wall of flesh.
His cold gaze remained fixed on Chen Yu amidst the quake, but he didn’t immediately attack him.
Chen Yu hardened his heart and spanked the little evil god even harder.
The evil god shrank back from the slaps and cried even louder. His little face wrinkled as he glared at Chen Yu with anger and resentment.
The cries were like an invisible cleaver, each one striking the mountainside.
Accompanied by the increasingly intense cries, massive boulders crumbled and disintegrated in the thick darkness, the fragments suspended in mid-air, as if they were caught in an unseen vortex.
Space began to distort.
A chaotic storm was taking shape.
Just like when the little evil god was born– heaven and earth were upside down, all things were out of order, and everything tangible was being reduced to its most primordial chaos.
Taking advantage of this chaos, Chen Yu immediately rushed to Duan Zhuosheng’s side.
Captain Duan, Xiao Zhuo, and Xiao Sheng had completely lost their ability to move.
The three of them were babbling incoherently.
“It’s going to collapse! It’s going to collapse! We’re finished! There’s no hope!” Xiao Zhuo said dejectedly.
The young man continued his rational analysis: “Based on the current situation, our chances of survival are less than three percent. If we take the evil god hostage, theoretically we could increase our bargaining power by two percent. However, considering that the god is an uncontrollable variable, I suggest we lie down and wait to die; it’s less effort.”
Before the two could finish, Captain Duan finally couldn’t hold back any longer. His voice almost drowned out the rumble of the cave: “Quiet! Quiet! Be quiet! You’re all… too loud!”
The three people’s faces kept changing, sometimes blurry, sometimes clear. They looked both eerie and comical.
Chen Yu’s lips twitched. He had no time to complain; with a thought, a giant octopus descended from the darkness above his head.
It was a completely transparent blue octopus, big, hanging upside down from the ceiling, a striking contrast in the darkness. Then, under Chen Yu’s command, the thickest tentacles coiled around Captain Duan, Xiao Zhuo, and Xiao Sheng, one after another, before he, carrying the wailing little evil god, rushed recklessly into the darkness.
The sound of collapsing rubble echoed behind him.
But Chen Yu didn’t look back even once.
He simply faced the darkness before him and the wind whistling past his ears. He fled for his life.
Faster! Faster!
During this process, Captain Duan, Xiao Zhuo, and Xiao Sheng continued to babble.
Their incoherent words became background noise amidst the sound of their running footsteps.
Xiao Zhuo was still muttering, “Dead, dead, this time we’re really going to die.”
The young man was still calculating in an analytical tone: “Our probability of death has risen to ninety-nine percent!”
But amidst the noisy background, Captain Duan’s voice suddenly cut through all the noise like a blunt knife.
“Chen Yu, your ability is too conspicuous in this darkness.”
The voice was deep and hoarse. Chen Yu briefly hesitated, but he didn’t turn back and continued to run forward.
“This octopus is glowing, do you understand? In this darkness, you’re just a beacon, you won’t go far.”
“Put us down, you take Xiao Hundun and go first!”
Captain Duan’s tone suddenly turned stern, from advice to command: “Hurry!” Immediately afterwards, Xiao Zhuo and the young man began repeating the command like a broken record.
“Hurry up!”
“Hurry up!”
“Hurry up!”
Chen Yu’s breath caught in his throat. Annoyed by the voices, he shouted, “Quiet down!”
At this moment, Chen Yu finally understood how Captain Duan felt when yelling at Xiao Sheng and Xiao Zhuo.
Even with a knife to his throat, he wouldn’t do that.
He couldn’t abandon his teammates.
That was his bottom line.
“You think you can escape?”
At this moment, a voice suddenly came from the darkness. It was Wen Li’s voice.
The voice came from all directions, and surrounded with like a seamless net slowly closing in from all sides.
Chen Yu gritted his teeth. He almost reflexively activated his ability.
As long as his domain expanded, he could at least claim a piece of land of his own in this darkness. But when he thought about it, he frowned, because nothing happened.
The familiar white sand beneath his feet was nowhere to be seen.
The fish didn’t materialize as he thought.
It was as if his ability was sealed by something.
No, that’s not right.
Chen Yu abruptly looked up.
The transparent blue octopus was changing.
Starting from the tips, its crystalline tentacles were transforming into jagged rocks at a visible speed.
These rocks were uneven, riddled with spikes and holes, resembling the walls of the cave he had just seen.
Then, centered on these rocks, a cave rapidly reconstructed itself in Chen Yu’s vision– stone walls, a floor, a ceiling, and that stone platform –everything was exactly the same as before, as if time had been rewound.
Chen Yu’s heart skipped a beat.
Everything that had just happened flashed through his mind like a hallucination. Chen Yu gasped for breath, then his legs gave way.
The pain from his knees slamming against the cold rock jolted him awake. He braced himself against the ground and slowly raised his head.
He found himself back in the cave.
The little evil god was still lying on the stone platform, but now awake, his big eyes suddenly glowed as he grinned at Chen Yu, as though mocking him.
Wen Li was still squatting before him, in the exact same posture as before, even his expression was the same.
Chen Yu’s eyes widened.
What was going on? Hadn’t he escaped? How did he end up back where he started? Was he still trapped in Wen Li’s Torrent of Knowledge?!
“Don’t think about it.” Wen Li squatted before Chen Yu, his hands on his knees. His dark eyes reflected Chen Yu’s disheveled figure.
“You did indeed withstand the Torrent of Knowledge,” Wen Li said.
He seemed impressed with Chen Yu. He looked at the mountains surrounding them before tapping the rock wall beside him. “Thump, thump.” The rock produced a dull sound identical to real stone.
“This cave is an imaginary construct built upon my abilities and consciousness,” Wen Li explained: “But you must understand one thing, imaginary things are not necessarily unreal.” He stood up, walked to the rock wall, and ran his hand over the rough surface.
“Conversely, things done in reality can also become imaginary.”
He turned to look at Chen Yu with a meaningful smile.
“As you’ve already experienced. These rocks seem real; you can feel their temperature, feel their weight, even be hit by falling rocks. And your series of resistances in the cave…”
His gaze lingered on the little evil god on the stone platform before returning to Chen Yu’s face.
“Even if they occurred within my imaginary realm, they could still vanish into nothingness.”
Chen Yu’s face grew paler.
He understood.
Everything he had just done occurred within Wen Li’s imagination, and as long as it existed within Wen Li’s imagination, his abilities could be easily erased, and all his efforts could be easily dismissed as a dream.
When the dream ended, he was still in the same place.
Wen Li continued speaking: “But it’s precisely because of this that I saw something interesting.”
His gaze shifted from Chen Yu to the gloating little evil god on the platform: “So the Chaos Evil God was pretending to be asleep all along, and you…you can actually utilize the power of chaos!”
“Using his cries to disrupt the stability of this space is a very clever method.”
At this moment, Wen Li’s gaze turned to Captain Duan beside him.
At some point, the shifting expressions of Captain Duan and the other two had ceased.
His was face pale, blood still stained his lips, but his mind had stabilized, and he was staring at Wen Li.
Wen Li couldn’t help but show his admiration: “Under these circumstances, Captain Duan’s contamination value stabilized so quickly. No wonder Bai Zhen valued him.” He shook his head and sighed, “What a pity.”
The next second, Captain Duan suddenly let out a low shout, and the three of them suddenly attacked Wen Li together.
The three of them unleashed their special abilities simultaneously.
Captain Duan’s [Truce Domain], Xiao Zhuo’s [Weaponry], and Xiao Sheng’s [Know Thyself, Know Your Enemy] – three completely different special abilities activated at the same moment, intertwining and creating a small battlefield around them once again.
It was a circular domain less than five meters in diameter, which, in the instant it rushed towards Wen Li, pulled him into their battlefield.
Wen Li didn’t look too surprised.
Bang!
Cheng Mo immediately subdued Captain Duan and the other two back to the ground.
His movements were so fast they were almost imperceptible. He took a step forward, reached out, and pinned Captain Duan to the ground.
Wen Li looked down at Captain Duan: “Knowing this cave was my imagination, why did you still attack?”
“Captain!” Chen Yu struggled to stand.
“Don’t move.”
At that moment, Wen Li’s hands were like iron clamps. He grabbed his shoulders.
Wen Li had somehow appeared behind him. Chen Yu struggled desperately, but couldn’t move an inch. He could only feel the coldness of Wen Li’s fingers, a chill that penetrated to his very bones.
Then, Chen Yu was forced to meet Wen Li’s eyes.
They were black eyes, swirling with vortexes, the whites covered with fine lines, like two bottomless black vortexes, threatening to suck in one’s consciousness, soul, everything.
These were not human eyes.
“Since you’ve tracked me here…” Wen Li’s voice seemed to resonate directly in his head: “Then let me see why you were able to become the Evil God Host.”
[Trait – Eye of Knowledge Acquisition]
Effect: By looking into the other person’s eyes, you can obtain all the information you desire.
The moment the ability activated, Chen Yu saw those swirling eyes spin faster and deeper, then pain shot through his head, as if countless tiny tentacles had burrowed in.
Chen Yu’s body arched like a fish thrown ashore. His mouth was agape, yet no sound came out.
His eyeballs became bloodshot, his veins bulged beneath his skin, and his entire body convulsed.
Wen Li, or rather, the leader of Black Fish, held his shoulder, head slightly bowed. His eyes were fixed on Chen Yu, as if he were turning the pages of an intriguing book.
One page.
Another page.
Chen Yu’s memories, his abilities, his secrets… everything was being seized.
