“So? Is the explanation over now?”

He should continue, but why does he look so confident? His expression was annoyingly shameless.

Marsilia looked at him before sighing and speaking up.

“Ever since the Mage Tower turned its back on us, life became inconvenient. We can’t even light the street lamps or use the communication devices anymore. All the little things that helped with daily life disappeared in an instant. But the Emperors probably didn’t want to complain to those who turned their backs to the empire over these minor issues.”

Marsilia finished his explanation with a shrug.

“That’s all there is to it. Street lamps can be replaced cheaply by hiring people, and communication would just take a little more time.

It wasn’t without reason, the Emperor at the time would rather deal with minor issues than bend his spine to the Mage Tower.

However, Marsilia didn’t see it that way. One of the reasons the Arhen Empire became a great power despite its vast territory was because of the quick communication between the regional lords and the imperial family.

Issues that could have been solved quickly were delayed by over a month, so it was only natural that the imperial family’s control weakened. The Emperor back then, even though he was his ancestor, was an utterly foolish man.

“Also, it was something he said in the temple, so it would have been awkward to openly try to appease the Mage Tower. The Emperor at the time was obsessed with the idea of being the representative of the gods.”

There were many such emperors. Fools who were intoxicated by the authority of the royal family. People who didn’t know how to conserve their resources and only wanted to be treated with respect.

Jaha nodded in understanding.

“I get it. You probably feel you need their help now, but can you really threaten them like that? Aren’t they supposed to be strong?”

“Well, are they still strong now? Jaha, as the number of monsters decreased, so did the number of Sword Masters. Knights have gotten lazy, but the reduction in the size of knight orders in the territories and the kingdom also played a big part. Back then, knights were everywhere, but now that’s not the case. The imperial knights’ order is now less than half of what it was at the founding of the empire. Magicians are the same. As they secluded themselves, their influence weakened. As a result, the number of people who would want to become magicians or awaken their talent has drastically decreased.”

The reason the Mage Tower hadn’t been dealt with until now was simply because there was no need to. Even though it was like a beehive, the tower didn’t harm him, so there was no need to stir them up.

But now, if they kept acting stubbornly in a time of crisis, there was no reason to leave them alone. Marsilia had no intention of letting them be. Why should he live with forces that could become a threat one day hanging over his head? If not for himself, then for his children and descendants, he would take care of it himself.

Of course, he first needed to deal with the Dragon sleeping in the valley, then the council meeting had to be handled. It would be ideal if the Archer could be dealt with as well, but that would be something to consider depending on the situation.

One of the reasons Marsilia had left the Archduke alone up until now was that he had not found his soulmate. If something happened to him, he needed to leave someone to inherit the throne. The Archduke was the only remaining legitimate heir, so there was no choice.

Marsilia did not want the empire to disappear on his reign.

Arhen was now his, and he was someone who had to protect whatever he held in his hands. Therefore, even if it meant passing it to the Archduke, he wanted to keep it intact.

When he thought about it, it seemed almost absurd. He had to prepare to give away his possessions to someone who was aiming for his throat.

Marsilia chuckled softly, and Jaha looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Marsilia bent down and lightly kissed Jaha’s lips. He flinched in surprise and pulled back, but he followed him and kissed him again.

“Stop it, ugh.”

He seemed to want to push him away, yet he kept retreating. Marsilia ignored his words and grabbed his arm that was covering his face, pulling him closer and continuing to kiss him.

“You’re too shy.”

Supporting his head with his hand as it tilted back, Marsilia leaned in and kissed him deeper. When his tongue swept on the roof of his mouth whers his name was inscribed, sweetness filled his senses.

He gently licked the roof of his mouth, and Jaha closed his eyes. Marsilia became even more persistent in his kiss, as their breaths mixed. The act of sharing such intimate moment made him feel even closer.

In reality, their bodies were very close. Marsilia had pulled him close by the waist, and their lower bodies were pressed together. His hand reached under his armpit and wrapped around his back and neck, bringing their upper bodies into a similar position.

After carefully sucking on his tongue, he released it, and a sweet breath escaped. Marsilia couldn’t pull himself away, rubbing his nose against his face, yearning to kiss his cheeks, forehead, and nose, but he held back, swallowing his saliva.

Marsilia kissed near his brow bone and sighed heavily, whispering.

“Answer me, Jaha. If I weren’t a man, would you have embraced me by now?”

Even though he was kissing him so passionately, Jaha was still resisting. What would he have done if he were a woman? Would he have held back in the same way? Would he have resisted even if a woman made the first move?

As Marsilia pulled away a little, Jaha was glaring at me with his eyes wide open. Marsilia pulled his waist closer and pressed him tightly against his lower body, asking.

“Would you get aroused?”

Unlike him, who was so aroused that it hurt just from a kiss, Jaha’s lower body was completely still. Marsilia looked at Jaha’s face with a subtle expression and smiled bitterly.

“You’re not answering again.”

“Because it’s not worth answering.”

“why?”

Jaha closed his lips again like a clam. Marsilia lowered his head following the man who was avoiding eye contact.

“We’ve been together for quite some time, Jaha. We’ve been seeing each other for two months now. And yet, I’m not worth answering?”

The moment Jaha let out a quiet sigh, something stirred inside Marsilia. As he opened his mouth to burst out the words that seemed ready to explode, Jaha narrowed his eyes. Upon seeing his troubled expression, his lips, which had been parted, closed quietly

“Your question is strange.”

“You think it’s strange?”

“You force a kiss on me and then check my reaction. Without even asking my opinion from the beginning. And then you ask me if I like you. Would you like that?”

It was such a reasonable argument. Even if Marsilia had ten mouths, he would have nothing to say. Jaha shook his head and pushed Marsilia’s chest away. He sighed louder than before as he watched Marsilia being pushed away helplessly.

“If I really hated it so much that I couldn’t stand it, I would have beaten you to death to make you stop. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good thing.”

Jaha concluded his speech with a more troubled expression than before.

“I feel guilt towards you.”

So you’re saying you won’t refuse? It was shocking to hear out loud what he had already noticed. When Marsilia couldn’t say anything, Jaha slowly turned around.

“I’ll be out so cool your head a bit. We’ll have to come up with a plan when the people come back.”

He left the tent without listening to Marsilia’s answer. Marsilia, left alone, tugged at his hair and fell into thought.

The corners of his eyes lifted because of the hand that was tugging at his hair, but Marsilia didn’t feel uncomfortable.

My mind was in a mess. He tried to understand what Jaha had said, but he didn’t want to understand it. Thoughts about the Dragon came to mind from time to time, but they didn’t linger.

Marsilia bit his lips tightly, burying his face in his palms. Even in this situation, his thirst for Jaha was growing, and he felt like he was going crazy.

Even after hearing his rejection, I wanted to pull the man’s hair as he turned away. I wanted to drag him in and kiss him.

Marsilia suddenly looked down at his trembling hands. He tried to clench his fingers into a fist, but it didn’t work as well as he had hoped.

Marsilia bit his lips, his fists clenched and trembling. Even though Jaha is by his side and trying to help him, it’s all because of guilt.

He wondered if he had changed his mind a little, offering help to kill the Dragon as if it were so obvious. After all, both of them had seen with their own eyes that he was too strong an opponent to be moved by mere guilt.

So, was he so excited that maybe the reason that Jaha wanted to help was because he had changed his mind about him?

Marsilia hit his forehead with his fist and laughed out loud. He was laughing like a madman, but at some point, he stopped as if it had all been an illusion.

Marsilia looked at the entrance to the tent through which Jaha had left with his green eyes that had become much darker.

But what did it matter? Marsilia was curious about something else. Just how far would that man’s guilt go?

The veins on his forehead twitched as his tried to suppress the urge to find out right away. Marsilia moved his chin from side to side and licked the inside of his mouth.

He couldn’t feel any of the sweetness that the man had left behind. I licked his tongue and mixed our saliva, but why was there only bitterness left? He felt regretful.
