Evil God 1
Pregnancy/Breakup/Fancy Rat
After working overtime for a month straight, Chen Yu developed a condition where he felt nauseous whenever he saw work-related messages.
The company just happened to issue medical examination vouchers, so he immediately made an appointment as soon as he had a holiday.
The medical report came out quickly, and all the indicators were normal, except for the progesterone level.
And then, the doctor informed him that he was pregnant.
“But I’m a guy.”
“In this day and age, men can get pregnant too.”
Chen Yu figured his overtime had finally driven him to hallucinate.
The doctor in front of him was very young, and his hair was unusually thick.
He hesitated for a long time before cautiously speaking, “Doctor, do you think it’s possible that the wrong report was given to me? How could a man be pregnant?”
“Why not?” The young doctor raised an eyebrow. “In this day and age, not only can you get pregnant through the rectum, but you can get pregnant through the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys.”
Chen Yu was stunned by those words.
He suddenly recalled a news article he had scrolled past yesterday.
During the Turbulence Period, a pet fancy rat had grown enormously and started eating people. The owner, not one to be trifled with, grabbed the rat by the tail and swallowed it whole.
So, what kind of world was this?
All he knew is that it was a world rife with mental illness.
So Chen Yu stood up angrily, pointed at the young doctor’s nose: “You quack, you’re a complete madman, I’m going to file a complaint against you!”
Resentful, Chen Yu left the hospital and immediately contacted his boyfriend. He typed furiously on his phone.
[A Half-Dead Fish1: Are you busy?]
[A Half-Dead Fish: You know what? I just met a weirdo at the hospital!!]
It took quite a while for his boyfriend to reply to his message.
[Fang Xun: Busy]
That single word was like a bucket of cold water, abruptly extinguishing Chen Yu’s urge to rant.
He sent a question mark instead.
[A Half-Dead Fish: ?]
[Fang Xun: Let’s meet up later, there’s something I want to tell you.]
[A Half-Dead Fish: Spit it out now.]
[Fang Xun: Okay.]
[Fang Xun: I’m getting a little tired of this.]
[Fang Xun: Let’s break up.]
[A Half-Dead Fish: ???]
Chen Yu stared at the screen, his eyebrows furrowed together.
Tired of this?
What the hell did that mean?
He took a deep breath and dialed Fang Xun’s number. After half a minute of ringing, the call was finally connected.
“What do you mean?”
Chen Yu tried his best to suppress his voice, angry huffs still burst out between each word: “You better give me a reason!”
The man on the other end of the line sighed. “You know how it is. I’m very busy, and I don’t have that much time to constantly chat with you.”
“So you’re breaking up with me over that?”
“Your temper isn’t great either, and it stresses me out. I’m sorry, I’m just not good enough for you.”
“…”
“Go to hell!”
The call ended, and the busy tone filled his ears.
*
Fang Xun held his phone rigidly, the angry sound still lingering in his ears, making his head buzz.
After a moment, he lowered the device and turned to look at the room behind him.
It was a breeding room for rats.
Ever since the mutated fancy rat incident, this place had transformed into a living hell.
Rat corpses and gnawed-up limbs littered the floor, while red and white fluids splattered across the walls, making it look exactly like a slaughterhouse.
As a member of the temporary rat extermination squad, Fang Xun’s job was to retrieve all the mutated rats.
Rustle, rustle.
Suddenly, a skittering sound came from behind him.
In the next second, a rat as big as a pig lunged at Fang Xun.
Its fur was pitch black, and it dragged a fleshy, half-meter-long tail.
Fang Xun frowned but didn’t dodge. Instead, he pivoted and delivered a mid-air kick, and the creature was sent flying in the air.
Amidst a piercing shriek, the impact cratered the wall with a web of fractures.
“These damn things are as disgusting as cockroaches. They breed like crazy, and no matter how many we kill, they keep coming!” complained his colleague, Yu Qi, from behind him.
“Cut the chatter and clear the area,” Fang Xun ordered with a frown. He was not in the best mood. “How many small ones are left unaccounted for?”
“Two.”
The group grunted as they began dragging away the heavy rat carcasses.
Fang Xun pulled out his phone again. The chat screen was still stuck on those three question marks.
Yu Qi glanced at his expression. “Your little boyfriend again?”
Fang Xun lowered his head and hummed in agreement, then said, “He’s not my boyfriend anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“We broke up.”
“Huh? When?”
“Just now.”
Yu Qi’s small eyes widened. “I thought you actually liked him?”
“It was only for the mission.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, you’re like one of those scumbags who pull up their pants and run away.”
Fang Xun was somewhat displeased and clearly didn’t want to talk about it anymore. He silently watched his colleagues work.
Xia Shui pouted “You don’t understand. It’s because it’s true love that they had to break up.”
She said almost sarcastically, “You don’t even look at how high Fang Xun’s contamination level is. His boyfriend… is called Chen Yu, right? An ordinary person who has never even been to the Twilight Ruins. He would have died without even knowing how he got caught up in it. If he wants to protect him, of course it’s better to break up. Don’t you think so, Boss?”
“Stop talking nonsense.” Fang Xun interrupted her directly. “Get to work.”
“Tch.”
Xia Shui reluctantly went back to continue cleaning up the rat carcasses, but received a phone call midway through, and her expression suddenly changed.
“Something’s not good.”
“Team 2 found traces of shed rat skin. They say it’s heading toward the airport. If those things escape into the border zone between the Twilight Ruins and the real world, we’re in deep trouble.”
Their rapid breeding meant that the moment they found a suitable environment, they would multiply exponentially.
Fang Xun’s expression suddenly turned serious.
“Exact location?”
“District 18, Nanyun Mountain Airport.”

Six months ago, the Central Tower issued a warning about the Turbulence Period
The so-called Turbulence Period according to official explanation, was a periodic disaster caused by a change in the Earth’s magnetic field due to a major war 250 years ago. This disaster could occurred once every ten years or as long as twenty years.
During the Turbulence Period, natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricanes occur frequently; auditory hallucinations, visual hallucinations, and mass hysteria also become common seasonal illnesses.
When the Turbulence Period arrived, planes were grounded, transportation was paralyzed, and everything was in chaos.
Just like how Chen Yu felt right now.
He returned to the apartment they shared and began packing his things.
He left the key on the coffee table, took only a few clothes and a stone pendant, dragged his suitcase, and went to Nanyun Mountain Airport.
It wasn’t until he sat in the cramped economy class seat that Chen Yu remembered the medical report that had been thrown away in the hospital trash can.
He subconsciously touched his stomach. Something seemed to move slightly below.
Is it just an illusion?
Without thinking much, he wrapped his clothes tighter around himself and fell asleep.
In his slumber, he seemed to have returned to the day he first met Fang Xun.
That was more than half a year ago, during a company team building activity, they went to the famous 5S scenic area, the Shibaliwu Gorge.
The scenic area was very beautiful.
The lakes were magnificent, shrouded in mist, and hidden among the mountains in various sizes.
It is said that those were the eyes left behind by the gods on earth.
At that time, Chen Yu walked alone along the boardwalk by the lake, strolling in the mist, feeling an indescribable excitement.
Then, by accident, he fell into the water.
A small landslide occurred in the scenic area that day, affecting not only Chen Yu, but also more than a dozen other unlucky people.
After being pulled from the lake, what appeared before Chen Yu was a handsome, somewhat cold face.
He said his name was Fang Xun.
After that day, Fang Xun began pursuing Chen Yu.
That breathtakingly handsome man often paraded through the streets, holding a large bouquet of roses, or waiting downstairs at the company.
Until Chen Yu could no longer bear it and angrily asked him what he wanted.
The man then took out a small silver key and said, “If possible, I would like to live with you.”
“In your dreams!”
Chen Yu laughed in anger, but for the first time, he didn’t turn around and leave.
Two months later, they got together.
On the day they moved into the apartment building, Fang Xun once again placed the key in Chen Yu’s palm.
This time, Chen Yu did not refuse.
When his colleague heard about this, she looked Chen Yu up and down and said sourly, “You’ve only been together for a short time and you’re already living together. What if he’s a fraud? He could sell you off to some island in the open sea.”
What had he said back then?
Ah, right. He had lifted his chin proudly. “Hmph, even if he’s a fraud, I still like him.”
“Look at you, grinning like a love-struck fool,” his lunch buddy scoffed in mock disgust.
As it turned out, she was right.
A fraud.
Fang Xun was a total fraud.
*
Chen Yu was startled awake by a sound overhead.
There was a rustling sound, like something was crawling on the luggage rack.
The anger from the dream hadn’t subsided, and he began to hate the noise as well.
He opened his eyes and glared at the man in the next seat in the aisle.
He was a young backpacker who boarded the plane with a big hiking backpack. Logically, only taking something out of that backpack would make such an annoying noise.
But when he looked at him, his hands were empty; his backpack was placed on the luggage rack.
Chen Yu was taken aback.
The backpacker looked at him, hesitated for a moment, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m fine.”
“But you…”
The backpacker pointed at Chen Yu’s face.
Chen Yu wiped his cheek, only to realize he had actually shed tears.
“Just airsick.”
“You were sleeping soundly just now.”
“I said I’m airsick, so I’m airsick!”
The backpacker’s lips twitched a few times. He looked at him as if he were crazy, but eventually closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.
After a while, the rustling sound started again.
The sound of claws scraping across the plastic made one’s hair stand on end.
”What was that sound?!”
”Cockroaches?”
Other passengers gradually noticed the unusual commotion.
A burly man, about 1.8 meters tall, in the seat in front of him called over a flight attendant. He pointed to the overhead bins with a pale face: “What’s wrong with your airline? How can you let cockroaches on a plane?!”
The flight attendant’s smile seemed welded to her face.
“Please calm down, sir. Normally, it is impossible for cockroaches to be on board.”
While calming the burly man down, she deftly opened the overhead luggage compartment to inspect it.
As he watched her movements, Chen Yu started feeling anxious.
The next second, something suddenly darted out from the darkness of the overhead luggage compartment and grabbed the flight attendant by the neck.
The flight attendant screamed for a moment before kneeling down. Blood gushed from between her fingers as she clutched her neck.
Chen Yu finally saw what it was.
It was a rat.
But it was no ordinary rat.
It was the size of a small pig, with black, glossy fur and a bloated belly so distended its limbs were warped outward.
Stunned, the news suddenly flashed through Chen Yu’s mind.
Without thinking twice, he grabbed his coat and covered the oversized rat, pulled it off the flight attendant’s neck, and slammed it to the ground. He then reached for a small suitcase in the overhead compartment, picked it up, and smashed it.
Once, twice, three times.
He struck each blow until nothing moved under his coat, and then he stopped.
The backpacker who had been pretending to be asleep had already been awakened by the commotion and stood there dumbfounded.
But it wasn’t over yet.
Chen Yu bent down to help the flight attendant up, but then saw a dense swarm of tiny mice moving from under the coat on the floor. Immediately afterward, a group of tiny mice, no bigger than fingernails, emerged from beneath the coat.
The bloated mother rat had already been gutted, leaving only a shriveled skin clinging tightly to the passageway.
These little mice were born knowing how to attack people
They started scurrying around the seats. One of them darted to the feet of the 1.8-meter-tall man and bit his calf. The man yelled in pain, slapped the little mouse flat, and another one jumped up.
Then, something even more terrifying happened.
After eating, the baby mice began to swell at a visible rate. Their bellies stretched bigger and bigger until they burst open within seconds, and another group of baby mice were “born”.
In just over ten minutes, the entire cabin had become a sea of rats.
“Fuck! These goddamn rats!”
“It hurts!!”
“Mommy, Mommy, I dropped my robot! My robot… No… I want my robot…”
A nightmarish landscape unfurled before Chen Yu’s eyes.
Screams, groans, and roars mingled together, and blood stained the seats and aisle. Chen Yu’s stomach churned, and he almost vomited.
Before boarding this plane, he didn’t dislike fancy rats; on the contrary, he could say he liked them.
He specifically followed bloggers who kept fancy rats and even planned to buy a grey-and-white hooded rat as a pet in the future.
But all those small hopes for the future were shattered completely by that sudden breakup.
And all of this seems to have started when he came across the news about a fancy rat eating people.
At that moment, his stomach moved again.
It wasn’t an illusion. Something was definitely rolling around beneath his skin.
Could it be a rat?
Or…?
Chen Yu looked down at his abdomen, then abruptly raised his head and roared at the dense swarm of rodents before him:
“Go to hell!”
“Go to hell!”
“Go to hell!”
The small suitcase was ripped open, and the handle was held in his hand as if it were a sword.
He charged straight into the sea of mice.
All the confusion and anger from the sudden breakup erupted at this moment.
With one swing of the metal handle, a cluster of mice was batted away.
The handle became slick with rat blood, which painted a gruesome picture on the floor.
A moment later, the wriggling mice all avoided the Chen Yu. They created a strange vacuum zone at his feet.
Upon witnessing Chen Yu’s manic behavior, the backpacker subconsciously took a step back.
He had initially thought Chen Yu was just a little neurotic, but it turned out he was more than just a little. Compared to the man-eating mice, the young man constantly fighting among the mice was far more bizarre.
Just then, Chen Yu suddenly looked at him with bloodshot eyes.
“W-What’s wrong?” The backpacker couldn’t help but take another step back.
Chen Yu did not answer. With red eyes and a bloody handle, he approached step by step.
The backpacker instinctively turned to run away, but when he looked back, he gasped in shock.
A giant rat appeared deep inside the cabin at some unknown time.
Its belly swelled up like a huge balloon, so big it was almost transparent, and inside it was crammed with tiny mice, like a pool of black water flowing under its skin.
At that moment, those lantern-like green eyes were staring in their direction.
Before the backpacker could recover from his panic, Chen Yu was already behind him and yanked him aside.
A voice drifted past the backpacker’s ear: “Move, you’re blocking my way.”
The backpacker subconsciously shifted his body slightly. He saw Chen Yu, carrying the blood-dripping handle, step across the narrow passage and laugh at the enormous creature opposite him.
“Come on, kill me, and take this thing in my belly to hell with me.”
The character 鱼 (yú) literally means “fish.”
