Evil God 2
Airplane Vs Mouse
As expected, Chen Yu’s provocation enraged the colossal creature.
It gripped the edge of the luggage rack with its four paws, dragged its bulky body and moved quickly, arriving in front of Chen Yu in the blink of an eye.
As its gaping maw opened, Chen Yu quickly jumped back; its steel-like fangs grazed his shoulder and embedded themselves in the back of the seat behind him.
Upon turning around, Chen Yu found himself face to face with the giant rat.
The bright green pupils reflected a perplexing scene
Twisted black threads wrapped around his body, gathered at his belly, and finally formed a chaotic phantom that could not be accurately described.
What… was that?
Chen Yu had no time to think. He raised the handle, aimed it at the translucent belly, and thrust it in with all his might.
“Squeak!!!”
The giant rat struggled, its sharp claws flailing in all directions. Chen Yu was tossed upside down, but he clung tightly to the handle and refused to let go.
Amid the chaos, he suddenly touched something.
Even though there was the handle between them, it felt as if he were touching it with his own hands, and like he was seeing its color and shape with his own eyes. All that information flooded into his mind in an instant.
It was a fragment.
Tiny, transparent, and radiating a mesmerizing glow.
“Squeak, squeak, squeak!!!”
The moment he touched the fragment, the giant rat let out a screech ten times louder than before.
The sound felt tangible, like a needle piercing Chen Yu’s brain. He simply gave up resisting and used his body weight to push the handle forward with all his might.
With a squelching sound, the handle pierced right through its stomach!
The giant rat glared fiercely at Chen Yu, and the little mice all turned to look at him in unison.
“Hey! Grab my hand!”
The backpacker followed right behind Chen Yu and reached out to pull him back.
But hordes of mice had already jumped onto Chen Yu, and in an instant, they had drowned him in a sea of mice.
*
In the darkness, he couldn’t see a thing.
All he could hear was a clattering sound.
Chen Yu was thrown to the ground, his whole body throbbing with pain.
He struggled to roll over and felt something cold within reach, only to realize it was his cell phone.
He lit up the screen and finally got a clear view of his surroundings.
It was a black cage formed by a swarm of tiny mice.
They were piled up, sealing off the area completely and forming a strange, oval-shaped ball of flesh.
At that moment, the giant rat was clinging with its claws to the flesh wall formed by the tiny mice while staring at Chen Yu.
A hole had torn open in its belly, and tiny mice were pouring out of it in a never-ending stream. That was the source of the clattering sound.
Chen Yu couldn’t help but frown.
But the giant rat, enraged by this sudden burst of light, let out a roar and lunged at him.
Chen Yu had been keeping a close eye on its movements; upon seeing this, he immediately hurled his phone forward. The screen’s glow traced an arc through the darkness before slamming into the giant rat’s head.
A startled squeak rang out, and immediately afterward, the surroundings plunged back into darkness.
By then, Chen Yu had already taken three steps in two and circled around to the back of the giant rat. He had just seen clearly in the light that the metal handle was stuck in the giant rat’s back!
Following the position he remembered, Chen Yu gripped the handle and pulled it!
The giant rat let out a piercing screech, turned around to swipe with a claw, and after missing, twisted its head to bit twice. But Chen Yu dodged both attacks.
The screech grew even more furious as it echoed through the cramped cage. It shook so much that the little mice fell down one after another!
With the handle now in his hand, Chen Yu felt a little calmer.
But the very next second, countless tiny green eyes lit up in the darkness, each one gleaming with hatred and greed.
Chen Yu knew something was wrong. In his panic, he subconsciously raised the handle to block.
But the attack didn’t come from the front. It came from beneath his feet!
Swarms of little mice scurried up his calves and onto his body, then gnawed at his bones and sucked his blood!
A series of pains shot through his body, and Chen Yu staggered and knelt down.
In that second of inattention, the giant rat had already closed in. Chen Yu’s figure was reflected in its lantern-like green eyes, and the next moment, it opened its bloodthirsty maw.
“Crunch!!!”
In the darkness, Chen Yu felt only a wave of excruciating pain as two fangs pierced through his shoulder.
“Ugh…!”
In that instant, the pain was so intense he couldn’t even curse.
But Chen Yu clenched his teeth and didn’t struggle.
He was waiting.
A look of triumph flashed in the giant rat’s greedy green eyes. It twitched its nose and breathed in the murky air mixed with the smell of blood.
Then it opened its mouth, ready to tear its prey to shreds.
Now!
The instant the giant rat opened its mouth, Chen Yu immediately shoved the handle inside!
The handle had long since twisted into a pretzel shape, making it sturdy. Now, it served its purpose perfectly and wedged itself between the rat’s teeth and upper jaw. It pried its mouth open wide enough to render it incapable of attacking.
Meanwhile, the fangs, which hadn’t been fully pulled out, was still embedded in Chen Yu’s left shoulder. He clung to it tightly, felt around the giant’s belly with his still-functional right hand, and then thrust it inside.
His target was that fragment!
Upon realizing what Chen Yu was trying to do, the giant rat began struggling.
With a determined look, Chen Yu plunged his entire arm into the giant rat’s abdominal cavity.
Slimy little mice slithered through the gaps between his fingers. The sensation was revolting, but he didn’t flinch. Instead, he stirred around inside with even greater momentum until he finally found it.
Like a beautiful gem, the fragment lay deep within the giant rat’s belly.
If Chen Yu could see it, he would have noticed that around the fragment, tiny black dots were rapidly transforming into slimy little mice. They were pouring out of the hole on one side while sprouting from within on the other. It was almost like a perpetual motion machine.
Chen Yu immediately grabbed it and pulled it out with all his might.
At that very moment, the entire black cage shook!
The fragment was like a heart; just as it was about to be torn out, the giant rat, no longer able to spare a thought for anything but its heart, launched a counterattack against Chen Yu.
The little mice let out a collective squealing. Each sound was like a steel needle piercing Chen Yu’s brain with brutal force.
The black cage was about to collapse.
Just then, a wave of heat suddenly surged through the palm of Chen Yu’s hand.
It was the fragment.
He was holding it, yet now it had grown as hot as a branding iron.
Chen Yu reflexively tried to let go, but the beautiful fragment suddenly melted and turned into a stream of magma that seeped into his skin.
A strange sensation began to spread throughout his body.
Then, Chen Yu felt as though something had been added to his body. An umbilical cord, or perhaps a part connecting him to whatever lay within his belly.
And then Chen Yu felt it.
There was a child inside him.
Very, very small, but definitely there, like a seed buried deep within his body.
The slumbering infant seemed to be awakened by the commotion as well; it slowly opened its eyes and met his gaze in the void.
Then, it gave him a strange smile.
Cold sweat broke out all over his body.
Fear engulfed him like a tidal wave; suddenly, Chen Yu could no longer feel a thing.
The little mice’s voices were fading into the distance; the giant rat’s gnawing, now bearing down on him, no longer felt painful; his consciousness began to drift away, and everything dissolved into void.
Yet at that moment, Chen Yu felt as though he was remembering many things.
The stone pendant around his neck, the news reports of the fancy rat devouring people, the beautiful and mysterious Shibaliwu Gorge, and those hands that had pulled him out of the water.
Fang Xun.
Yes, Fang Xun.
Amid the chaos of his consciousness, the final image froze on the moment Fang Xun broke up with him.
[I’m getting a little tired of this.]
[Let’s break up.]
Chen Yu jolted awake.
He staggered to his feet; in the darkness, his vision suddenly became exceptionally clear.
When two evil green eyes, like lanterns, locked onto Chen Yu, the giant rat suddenly stopped its attack and took a step back. But it trembled with every step.
Following the giant rat’s gaze, Chen Yu looked down at his own stomach.
Strange black threads were emerging from his abdomen, now growing strand by strand up the giant rat’s fur. And those threads seemed to be absorbing the giant rat’s life forces.
Those forces, flesh and blood, and even the mad thoughts, all flowed continuously through these black threads to the thing inside the belly.
In those eyes filled with fear, the giant rat’s mountain-like body rapidly withered away.
In the blink of an eye, only a skin remained.
The little mice had long since ceased their attack; they were all cowering on the ground. Some had even turned into a sticky black liquid, dripping from the rickety rat cage.
Chen Yu reached out to wipe it away, only to discover it was the blood of the little mice.
At that moment, a mechanical voice rang out above his head.

The backpacker was very annoyed to see Chen Yu drowned by rats.
Although Chen Yu seemed a bit neurotic, at least he was a decent person. Just as the backpacker was about to rush in to help, the mice that had formed a giant cage suddenly scattered.
They seemed to have suddenly lost their way, squeaking and crawling around blindly. Then one after another, they fell to the ground and lay motionless.
Chen Yu emerged from the pile of rats with the suitcase handle. In his hand, he held a huge, shriveled rat skin, and black blood dripped down the suitcase handle onto the skin.
He looked bedraggled, one might even say pitiful. Two large, dark holes had been gnawed into his shoulder, yet there was something terrifying about him that kept the backpacker from approaching.
“Are… you okay?”
“Do I look okay to you?”
Only then did the backpacker rush over and steady him.
The backpacker looked at the rat skin draped over him: “What’s that?”
“My trophy.”
“Did that monster just die like that?”
“It got off easy!”
The backpacker was at a loss for words for a moment. Just as he was about to ask something else, the plane suddenly jolted.
Alarms blared from all directions, red lights flashed throughout the cabin, and the plane began to tilt.
“Where’s the captain? Where’s the captain?!” someone shouted. “Protect the captain first!”
But it was already too late.
No one could control this plane anymore.
The plane was about to crash.
*
Meanwhile.
Xia Shui was briefing Fang Xun on the situation.
“The escaped mutated fancy rat was smarter than expected. It tracked someone’s scent onto the plane and is now steering it toward the area covered by the Twilight Ruins.”
“Following someone’s scent…?” Fang Xun seemed a bit confused.
“It must be revenge. The escaped mutated rat picked up their scent, but it seems it followed the wrong person.”
Xia Shui held the passenger manifest provided by the airline. After exchanging a glance with Yu Qi, she continued, “Because Chen Yu’s name is on the list too.”
Upon hearing this, Fang Xun fell silent for a moment.
Then he took out his phone and dialed a number, only to discover that Chen Yu had blocked him.
“What’s the current status of the plane?”
“The control tower has completely lost contact with the captain; it may have already crashed.”
“Can you pinpoint the exact crash site?”
“We have a rough range.”
“Where exactly?”
“Deep within the Twilight Ruins, Zone S.”
At the mention of Zone S, everyone fell silent.
Zone S didn’t necessarily mean extreme danger; rather, it referred to an unexplored area.
Unexplored meant no one knew whether it was dangerous or completely unsafe.
After all, over the course of billions of years, humans had explored less than ten percent of the Twilight Ruins.
Even that 10 percent was nothing more than wishful speculation.
“Are there any other passengers on the plane who’ve been to the Twilight Ruins?”
“There are some from White/Turbidity, but we have no way to communicate with them, so we can’t reach them for now.”
While Xia Shui was reporting, Fang Xun had already put down his phone and begun straightening his clothes.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m going in.”
“Are you out of your mind?”
Having worked with Fang Xun for half a year, during which time they’d lost countless colleagues, Xia Shui naturally didn’t want to see him go to his death, especially since Fang Xun was good-looking and hadn’t suddenly grown three heads or six tails.
Fang Xun’s expression, however, was grave: “I have to confirm something.”
“…Besides, I might not necessarily die.”
With those words, he left.
Xia Shui watched Fang Xun’s resolute back, then winked at Yu Qi: “I told you Fang Xun is truly in love with his boyfriend.”
Yu Qi scoffed.
He eyed Xia Shui from under his lower eyelid: “Do you even know Fang Xun?”
Xia Shui blinked: “Why would I need to know him?”
Yu Qi’s disdain came out as a snort through his nose: “You’ve worked with him for half a year, and you don’t even know if Fang Xun is human or a ghost. Yet you’re talking about true love? I think you’re the one who’s lost your mind!”
Xia Shui, however, just chuckled softly.
“You don’t know a damn thing!”
Her gaze remained fixed on the direction Fang Xun had left. Her eyes narrowed slightly: “That’s exactly why anything is possible.”
